Terms of service

Last updated June 16, 2026

These terms cover using Candor - as a recipient collecting feedback and as a giver leaving it. They're written to be readable; the short version is: be honest, don't abuse the channel, and we'll keep your data private.

Agreement

These Terms of Service are a binding agreement between you and Candor governing your use of the Candor website, app, and services. By creating an account or using Candor, you accept these terms. If you use Candor on behalf of an organization, you represent that you're authorized to bind it, and "you" includes that organization.

The service

Candor provides a personal link and tools to collect, manage, request, and summarize feedback, plus optional calendar automation and organization features. We may change or improve features over time; we'll avoid breaking things you rely on without notice where we reasonably can.

Accounts

You're responsible for activity under your account and for keeping access to your email (and SSO, where used) secure. You must provide accurate information and be at least 16 years old. Choose a link slug in good faith - impersonating someone else is not allowed.

Organizations & administrators

If you create or join an organization, its owners and admins control membership, roles, the reporting structure, the shared plan, and the feedback-visibility policy - including, if they enable it, whether sealed responses are shown to authorized viewers individually. Admins can add, manage, and deactivate members and may access member feedback as permitted by the policy they set.

The organization is responsible for configuring these settings lawfully and for informing its people about how their feedback is used and shared. If your organization pays for Candor, the organization's plan and billing govern your access; you and your organization are responsible for your respective use.

Acceptable use

  • Don't use Candor to harass, threaten, or harm anyone, or to collect feedback under false pretenses.
  • Don't use feedback requests to send spam or unsolicited bulk mail. Sending is rate-limited, and abuse (bounces, spam complaints) can pause or terminate sending.
  • Don't attempt to de-anonymize givers, probe the anonymity system, or circumvent rate limits, blocks, or security controls.
  • Don't upload unlawful content, infringe others' rights, or misuse the service or interfere with its operation.

Feedback content & ownership

Recipients own the feedback they receive and are responsible for how they use it. Givers are responsible for what they submit and grant the recipient the right to read and act on it. You grant Candor a limited license to host and process content solely to operate the service and generate summaries within your account, as described in the Privacy Policy. We may remove or quarantine content that violates these terms or that our abuse systems flag. Candor's own software, brand, and content remain ours.

Givers & anonymity

Giving feedback requires no account. Sealed responses are anonymous by construction. Givers can delete a response within 30 minutes of submitting, and it stays hidden from the recipient until then. Where an organization has enabled it, feedback (including sealed responses, individually) may be visible to the recipient's managers or organization; the form tells givers when this applies.

Plans, billing & cancellation

  • Collecting feedback is free, including unlimited responses. Paid plans add automation, AI, organization features, and extended history.
  • Paid plans are billed in advance through Stripe on the interval you choose - monthly or annually - and renew automatically until cancelled. Prices are exclusive of taxes unless stated; applicable taxes may be added.
  • You can cancel anytime from the billing portal and keep paid features through the end of the current period. Downgrading or cancelling hides paid features and history beyond the free window but does not delete your data. Fees are non-refundable except where required by law. For organizations, the plan is set and billed at the organization level.

Third-party services

Some features rely on third parties - Stripe for payments, Google for optional calendar access, and our infrastructure providers. Your use of those features is also subject to the relevant third party's terms, and we're not responsible for third-party services.

Disclaimers

Candor is provided "as is" and "as available." We don't warrant that feedback will be accurate, fair, or complete, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Feedback reflects the views of givers, not Candor.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Candor is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost profits or data, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (or USD 100 if you paid nothing).

Indemnification

You'll defend and indemnify Candor against claims arising from your content, your use of the service, or your violation of these terms or others' rights, to the extent permitted by law.

Termination

You can stop using Candor and delete your account anytime. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or create risk for other users, with notice where practical. Provisions that should survive termination (ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, indemnification) do.

Changes, governing law & contact

We may update these terms and will note the date above; material changes will be communicated where appropriate, and continued use means you accept them. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and you and Candor submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located there.
